A two-story yakiniku restaurant in Osu, Nagoya. The plan was to combine two restaurants in the same area, a casual main restaurant and an at-home hanare, into a single restaurant. In order to maximize the interior space on the narrow site, skip floors were used to divide the area and create an expanse of space that exceeds the area of the building. The skipped floors provide both a sense of unity throughout the store and differentiation between the different types of seating on each floor, and the natural ventilation helps to prevent infection. On the exterior, slit windows that take advantage of the skipped floors are designed to draw people in while controlling the line of sight from the outside. The staircase was made external to allow for future partial rental use, and rough finishes were added to maintain the atmosphere of the existing store, aiming for a space that is unique to this location and store.
