The new Helsinki Central Library is the city's new living space, with various intimate spaces inviting activities.
Like a reef attracting fish and giving diversity to the sea, porous shells invite the flows of people and allow cultural activities in spaces softly filled with natural sunlight.
The porous shells maintain the bright space filling with natural sun light, while softly dividing each spaces to have intimate atmosphere. Internal space is mainly consist as one space and small rooms such as meeting rooms or interactive spaces are distributed freely so as to maintain the concept of “space within a space”.
