Effective August 12, 2026, Shinya Omura will be appointed as Representative Director of Coelacanth and Associates Co., Ltd.
With Shinya Omura joining the current Representative Directors, Yasuyuki Ito and Kazuko Akamatsu, the company will be jointly represented by three Representative Directors.
This appointment is intended to clarify roles and responsibilities both internally and externally. It does not, however, change the way we operate or our approach to architecture and design.
Coelacanth and Associates consists of CAt, based in Tokyo, and CAn, based in Nagoya. At CAt, Kazuko Akamatsu and Shinya Omura, and at CAn, Yasuyuki Ito, Susumu Uno, and Yasuharu Rachi, serve as partners (Design Principals), sharing responsibility for both design practice and organizational management.
What we value is not a hierarchy defined by the title of Representative Director, but a relationship in which all five partners engage in dialogue and collaborate as equals, bringing together their different perspectives, sensibilities, knowledge, and experience in the creation of architecture.
As society and the environment continue to change, the role of architecture is also evolving. By bringing together the perspectives and sensibilities of our five partners and further strengthening the relationship between CAt and CAn, we will continue to explore new possibilities for architecture and help shape its future.
