Space Block Nozawa

This is a rental apartment building located in a calm Tokyo residential district. In order to attain distance from traffic, the building has been compacted in the centre of the lot, creating buffer spaces to its surroundings. In the centre of the building is a staircase that opens up and is filled with diffused light from above. Translucent
glass louvers cover the building, and lets the residents control wind, light and privacy by opening and closing them. Here, too, the Basic Space Block system (BSB) has been used to compose spatial units. These have been bent and twisted three dimensionally to create a mysterious spatial experience. The opening and closing of the glass louvers constantly change the exterior appearance of the building.
